Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose is a non-ionic cellulose ether made from natural cotton fiber through a series of chemical processing. They are an odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, off-white powder, which can be dissolved in cold water and organic solvents to form a transparent viscous solution with thickening, bonding, dispersion,emulsification, film formation, suspension and adsorption , gel, surface activity, moisture retention and protective colloid properties.
Application
HPMC is widely used in production and construction
1. Construction industry: As a water-retaining agent and retarder of cement mortar, it has good pumping performance. Use mortar,plaster, putty powder and other building materials as adhesives to improve its applicability and extend its use time.Used for pasting tiles, marbles, plastic decorations, pasting steel bars, and can also reduce the amount of cement. The water retention of HPMC prevents the paste from cracking due to too fast drying after application, and the strength is improved after hardening.
2. Ceramic manufacturing industry: widely used in the bonding of ceramic products.
3. Paint industry: as thickener, dispersant and stabilizer, soluble in water or organic solvents. Used as paint remover.
4. Ink printing: As a thickener, dispersant and stabilizer in the ink industry, it has good compatibility in water or organic solvents.
