Main properties of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose(HPMC)
1. Water retention
When HPMC is used on the surface of absorbent materials such as walls, it has the characteristics of effectively reducing water loss.
2. Water soluble
HPMC is soluble in cold water, but not in hot water.
3. Organic solubility
HPMC has a special hydrophobic functional group so that it can be dissolved in part of the organic binary and aqueous solvents.
4. PH stability
The PH of HPMC is generally stable in the range of 3.0-11.0, The solubility of HPMC is effected by the PH value.
5. Non-ionic substitution
HPMC can be compatible with other additives in aqueous solution, and provides a stable water-soluble combination.
6. Thickening and adhesion
HPMC has the properties of thickening and strengthening adhesion.
7. Suspended
HPMC can improve the suspension stability of solution.
8. Thermal gel
When the temperature rises to a certain extent, HPMC solution will gel. When the temperature of the solution drops, the gelation phenomena disappears.
9. Lubricity
HPMC properties can improve the construction, improve the cement -base products processing and ceramic tile extrusion performance.
10. Surface activity
HPMC surface activity properties provide the solution required for protective colloid and emulsification.
11. A membranous
HPMC can form a transparent flexible and tough film, can effectively block grease.
12. Antimicrobial and mildew resistant
